Curriculum Intent

At Danesholme Academies, our curriculum is designed so that every child will 'Be Ready':

Ready to Learn — We provide a play-based, language-rich curriculum that sparks curiosity and builds strong foundations for future learning. Through exploration and hands-on experiences, we nurture children’s readiness to discover, question, and grow across all areas of development.

Ready for Life — Our approach goes beyond early academic skills: we develop resilience, confidence, and independence. Children learn to manage feelings, take risks, and adapt to new challenges, preparing them for the next stage of their learning journey.

Ready to Contribute — We foster a sense of belonging and kindness within a caring community. Children learn to share, take turns, and respect others, building positive relationships and contributing to their classroom and wider world.

Ready to Succeed — Through high expectations, supportive interactions, and progressive experiences, every child is empowered to develop communication, physical, and social skills—ready for a smooth transition into Key Stage 1 and lifelong learning.

At Danesholme, we are ambitious for every child in our Early Years setting. We believe that all children, regardless of their starting points, deserve the very best foundation for lifelong learning.

We aim for every child to:

  • Develop a love of learning through a rich, engaging, and purposeful environment
  • Become confident, independent learners who are curious about the world around them
  • Build strong communication and language skills to express themselves effectively
  • Develop positive relationships, resilience, and a sense of belonging within our school community
  • Achieve their full potential across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage

We are committed to:

  • Early identification and support for all pupils, ensuring barriers to learning are addressed swiftly
  • High expectations for all learners, with no limits placed on achievement
  • Strong partnerships with families to support children’s development both at school and at home
  • Providing a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child feels safe, valued, and ready to learn

By the end of Early Years, we strive for all children to be well-prepared for the next stage of their education, with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to succeed in Key Stage 1 and beyond.
