Personal Development

Be Ready (to Achieve) is one of our core values and it is important that we ensure pupils know how to promote personal well-being and be ready for learning.

We heavily promote pupil well-being and readiness for learning by ensuring our pupils’ physical and emotional needs are met.

We recognise that as children grow and learn, they begin to experience different emotions. It can be difficult for them to understand and process their feelings at first.

It may take some time for your child to learn how to deal with their emotions.

We use Zones of Regulation to help children to do this in a child-friendly way. We use photos and the characters from the book The Colour Monster to support this.

Staff use scripts and emotion coaching to help children to get back to the green zone.

Promoting British values and celebrating diversity are woven throughout our assemblies and curriculum, ensuring pupils develop respect, tolerance and a strong sense of community. Through carefully planned assemblies, children explore themes such as democracy, individual liberty, the rule of law and mutual respect, while also learning about a wide range of cultures, beliefs and traditions represented within modern Britain. Across the curriculum, pupils engage with inclusive texts, diverse role models and global perspectives that broaden their understanding of the world and deepen their appreciation of difference. This whole‑school approach nurtures an environment where every child feels valued, included and empowered to contribute positively to society.
