Danesholme Infant Academy

Religious Education

At Danesholme Academies, our RE curriculum is designed so that every child will 'Be Ready':

Ready to Learn — We deliver an engaging RE curriculum based on the local agreed syllabus, building secure foundations in knowledge of religions and worldviews. Children learn key concepts such as belief, practice, and meaning, and develop the skills to ask thoughtful questions about faith and values.

Ready for Life — RE equips children with understanding and respect for diversity, helping them reflect on their own beliefs and those of others. They develop critical thinking and empathy, preparing them to navigate moral, spiritual, and cultural challenges in a pluralistic society.

Ready to Contribute — Through dialogue and enquiry, children learn to appreciate different perspectives, engage in respectful discussion, and contribute positively to their community. They understand how beliefs influence actions and how they can promote harmony and mutual respect.

Ready to Succeed — With high expectations and progressive development of substantive knowledge (religions and worldviews) and disciplinary skills (investigation, interpretation, evaluation), every child is empowered to think deeply, communicate effectively, and be ready for the next stage of learning.

Parental Right to Withdraw from Religious Education (RE)

We respect the rights of parents and carers regarding their child’s education. Under current legislation, parents and carers have the right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education (RE) lessons. This includes activities related to Religious Education that do not form part of the statutory National Curriculum.

If you wish to exercise this right, we ask that you inform the school in writing, detailing whether you are withdrawing your child from all or specific parts of the RE curriculum. We are happy to discuss any concerns you may have and provide further information to help you make an informed decision.
