PE & Sports Premium

The PE and Sport Premium is government funding provided to primary schools to improve the quality of physical education (PE), physical activity, and school sport. The funding is intended to create sustainable improvements that enable all children to lead healthy, active lives and to benefit from high-quality PE and sporting opportunities throughout their time at primary school.

At Danesholme Infant Academy, we use this funding to:

  • Increase participation in regular physical activity for all pupils.
  • Ensure high-quality PE provision for every child.
  • Raise the profile of PE, physical activity, and sport across the school.
  • Develop staff confidence, knowledge, and skills in teaching PE.
  • Provide a broader range of sporting and physical activity opportunities.
  • Increase participation in competitive sport.
  • Promote pupils' health, wellbeing, personal development, and enjoyment of physical activity.

Review and Accountability

We regularly review and evaluate our PE and Sport Premium spending to ensure it has a positive and lasting impact on pupils' physical activity levels, wellbeing, and achievement.

Our use of funding is monitored in line with the requirements of the Department for Education and is reported annually through the national reporting process. We ensure that expenditure contributes to sustainable improvements in PE, physical activity, and school sport and reflects the key priorities identified in national guidance.

Future Developments

The Government has announced that the current PE and Sport Premium funding model will transition to a new PE and School Sport Partnerships Network from 2027. During the transition period, schools will continue to receive funding to support high-quality PE, physical activity, and school sport provision while longer-term arrangements are established.

At Danesholme Infant Academy, we remain committed to providing an ambitious and inclusive PE curriculum that inspires all pupils to develop the skills, confidence, and motivation needed to lead healthy and active lives.
